Functionalities of Library Management Software

DASHBOARD
The dashboard page provides the overall details of the books present in the library.
It focuses on enlisting the total number of books present in the library as well as maintaining the records of the total number of issued books, the total number of returned books along with the total number of members.
The upper section includes a pie-chart showing the total issued books and expired but not returned books.
It gives reports on daily and monthly basis for added books, issued books, returned books and added members whereas the overall report includes the total number of books, total number of issued books and total number of members in the library.
The bottom part of the page illustrates the graphical representation of the issued and returned books for the last 12 months.

  • GENERAL SETTING
General setting page is responsible for adding information about the library management system.
A textbox “Institute’s Name” , “Institute’s Address” , “Institute Email”, “Institute Phone/Mobile” is required to update the institution.
A file upload option is given for updating the logo & Favicon of the library management system .
Language Selection, Time zone , Currency required for Library Management system.

BOOK

  • 1. BOOK CATEGORY

    Book category is the information regarding the category of the books present in the library.
    An “Add” button is required to be created in the upper part of the page to add further categories to the table.

  • 2. BOOK SUBJECT

    This page has the names of the subjects along with their subject ids in the left and action field to the right.
    The action field contains two operations i.e “edit” and “delete”. A search bar is required to find the books easily by searching their subject ids or subject names.
    An “Add” button is required to be created in the upper part of the page to add further subjects to the table.

  • 3. BOOK

    This field enlists the detailed information of the books present in the library. It shows the book id, date of purchase, accession number, author, title, edition and availability status of the book in a tabular format.
    An action is required at the right side of each corresponding book to edit, delete or to know the information regarding the book.
    A search bar is required to find the books easily by searching their accession number, title, author, category, from date and to date.
    An “Add” button is required to be created in the upper part of the page to add further books to the table.

CIRCULATION

  • 1. CIRCULAR SETTING

    Circular setting has a very vital role to play in deciding the returning period of the books, fines to be charged if the book is not returned on time and limit of books that can be issued to member according to their member types. An action field with “edit” button is required at the right side of the table to make necessary changes in the table.
    A search bar is required to be created in order to facilitate the process of finding the defaulters by searching member type, issue limit days, issue limit books and fine per day.

  • 2. ISSUE AND RETURN

    This is used for issuing and returning the books of the library.
    A member is searched by book id, member name, title, author, issue from date and issue to date.
    A “issue and return” button is required to be created at the top the page to reach at an interface which finds the member by their member id or name. When the required member is found, the issue or return of book action is performed depending on the need.

NOTIFICATION

  • 1. NOTIFY DELAYED MEMBERS

    This field holds the list of the members along with their names, emails, mobile numbers, issue dates, expire dates and title of the book along with check box corresponding to each members for selecting them to send sms or email notification.
    After a member is selected, the “send sms/email notification” button at the top of the page is required to be used for send notification regarding the delay of returning of the books.
    A search bar is required to be created in order to find the members by their names , issue from date, issue to date, expire from date and expire to date.

REPORT

  • 1. FINE/PENALTY REPORT

    This page is required to perform the action of downloading the fine or penalty that is to be paid by a member.
    A search bar is required to be created in order to find a member easily by searching his/her name, return from date and return to date.
    After finding the member, the “download” button at the top of the page is needed to be used to download the penalty report of the selected member.
    The penalty report includes member name, email, mobile number, address of the member, penalty to be paid by the member.

  • 2. NOTIFICATION REPORT

    Notification report contains the name of the member, email, mobile number, notification type, time and date of sending, message subject and the message to be sent.
    A search bar is required to be created to find the member easily by searching their names, from date, to date and notification type.
    Once the member is found and selected, the “download” at the top of the page is used to download the message that has been sent to the defaulter.
